We’re hosting a fun-filled Read Aloud Challenge, running the entire month of July, with the goal of fostering a love of reading together for families in the Our Military Kids network. Novel Effect will select one lucky reader each week to win a Novel Effect x Our Military Kids prize pack, including a Bluetooth speaker, a book bundle, and a one-year Premium Family Subscription. This Read Aloud Challenge is open exclusively to Our Military Kids grant recipients.
Our Military Kids recognizes the sacrifice of children of deployed National Guard, deployed Reserve, or post 9/11 combat-injured service members by offering extracurricular activity grants that build the child’s self-confidence, enhance family wellness, and strengthen a shared sense of community.
The nonprofit organization has proudly given out more than 77,000 grants to military families throughout the United States since 2004. From music lessons to soccer camp, martial arts training to cooking classes, military children and teens use their Our Military Kids grants to pursue their passions during a parent’s deployment with the National Guard or Reserve or recovery from combat-related injuries.
