We're hiring

Novel Effect is looking for a part-time Ambassador Program Coordinator to support and build our existing community of dedicated educators. Your primary responsibility will be to manage Novel Effect’s Ambassador program, but you may also be asked to represent Novel Effect in webinars and at events. The goal of this program is to help get the word out about the power of read-alouds with Novel Effect by engaging, supporting, and celebrating our biggest fans.

Are you a current or former educator that is ready to be Novel Effect’s biggest advocate? If you can’t stop raving about the engagement Novel Effect creates in classrooms and want to help others spread the word too, this is the job for you! Previous experience with an EdTech Ambassador program and leading exciting virtual meetings is preferred.

This is a part-time, remote position, with an expectation of 5-10 hours per week.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in education (experience in EdTech, the classroom, or in a school is required).
  • Experience presenting EdTech tools to audiences, in-person and virtually.
  • Leadership experience with other educators.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Deep curiosity, willingness to learn, and a relentless problem-solving attitude.
  • Courage to challenge the status quo.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Ambassador program, the goal of which is to create and activate an enthusiastic and authentic group of amazing educators who love Novel Effect and its impact in their communities.
  • Run a regular, virtual meeting to inform, inspire, and connect with Ambassadors.
  • Cultivate conversations with Ambassadors to understand how Novel Effect can improve, engage, and expand.
  • Interface with internal teams at Novel Effect to learn about the latest and greatest developments to share with the Ambassador community.
  • Ensure that Ambassadors have access to assets they need to present about Novel Effect at conferences and events (virtual and in-person).
  • Manage the Ambassador Facebook Group.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for Ambassadors.
  • Opportunities to participate in virtual events and webinars.

Novel Effect is looking for film/game composers and sound designers to create soundscapes for our catalog and implement them into our books using our proprietary authoring tool. The ideal candidates will have the ability to create world class interactive music and audio that supports the story (such as ambience, sound effects, character voices, and musical underscore), while leaving sonic space for spoken narration. Candidates should be strong communicators, with the ability to take feedback. Experience with children’s content, adaptive music/audio, game audio middleware, and scoring to picture is helpful.

We’re looking for an individual who is creative, visionary, and organized. The Visual Designer brings a strong sense of design and conceptual ability, as well as excellent technical skills to creative projects across the business. This role will be working on both brand and content marketing campaigns, consumer products, strategic presentations, and brand partnerships.

Day to day your focus is on creating compelling designs from concept to production in partnership with the marketing, design, and product teams.

You Have:

  • BFA or BA in Graphic Design or related field or 3-5 years experience in design
  • An online portfolio with samples of your work and descriptions of your contributions to the project
  • Expertise designing in Adobe creative suite, deck building in Google Slides, Figma, Sketch, etc.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment 
  • A history of working in all forms of media; experience with email marketing platforms and web design is a plus but not required
  • You seek out inspiration early and proactively ask for feedback as you develop your ideas. Openly receive feedback; find opportunities to make your work stronger.

Responsibilities:

  • Have a thorough understanding of Novel Effect’s current products (soundscapes, mobile apps, company values, etc.)
  • Concept, present, and execute high-quality creative solutions for a variety of campaigns and initiatives.
  • Communicate the value and mission of Novel Effect in designs for seasonal campaigns, performance marketing, newsletters, social media, splash pages, etc.
  • Bring a cohesive visual brand across customer touchpoints with attention to craft and detail.
  • Collaborate on brand and design projects with internal and external partners, share learnings, offer creative feedback, and lean into Novel Effect’s mission.
  • Partner with other team members to creatively scale brand consistency and engagement across our business in marketing, product, people, sales, web and beyond.
  • Stay on top of trends and market demands to offer the best creative solutions.
  • Deliver clever design solutions that are grounded and strategically sound. Make it beautiful.

You will be responsible for creating engaging, intuitive, and functional mobile experiences in a detail-oriented and fast paced environment.

  •  Bachelor’s degree with a strong portfolio or minimum 3-5 years experience as a user experience or user interface designer
  • Demonstrated understanding of user-centered design principles across various platforms, devices, and channels
  • A demonstrated enthusiasm for learning services that support kids, families, and educators
  • Proficiency with design software and prototyping tools
  • Strong creative, organizational, and time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, specifically in regards to articulating design concepts and decisions

You will be responsible for producing highly efficient and consistent Android experience across various hardware configurations. Although this position is initially focused on Android, it has potentials to involve more advanced technologies, like speech recognition, audio processing, AI/DL, etc.

  • Minimum BS degree in Computer Science, MS or PhD is a plus.
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience as a mobile developer, ideally on Android. Kotlin experience is a plus. Experience on other mobile platforms is also helpful.
  • Proficient in creating high-performance and consistent UI/UX across a wide variety of Android devices.
  • Familiar with Android’s latest architecture components. 
  • Comfortable in diving into AOSP code if needed.
  • Familiar with 3rd party open source Android frameworks is a plus.
  • Experience in AR, speech recognition, audio processing or AI/DL is a big plus.
  • Think out of box and be an active learner.
