We are proud to support Here Wee Read and its mission to connect people to great books they’ll love. Here Wee Read is an organization by Charnaie Gordon who has made it her life’s work to help you instill a love of reading, lifelong learning, and curiosity in the children in your lives. A wife, mom, previous Computer Programmer, and literacy champion, Charnaie efforts focuses on ensuring that people of all races, and all ethnicities, are able to see themselves represented and included in the media they consume. Novel Effect is teaming up with Charnaie, in support of Here Wee Read’s non-profit initiative 50 States 50 Books by donating memberships and books for each of the 50 boxes that will be distributed. The mission of this initiative is to help close the literacy gap in America and expose more children to diverse and inclusive literature. If you’re interested in getting involved with this initiative, there are three ways to participate. You can sign up to be considered to receive a book donation for your state, donate books, or donate money to cover the costs of shipping and purchasing new or gently used books.
Since it was started in 2018 as a community service based family initiative, 50 states 50 books has grown into a registered 50c3 non-profit organization that has collected over five thousand books and donated them to kids across each of the 50 states in the U.S.
