March Madness is a NCAA basketball tournament that has become a cultural event across the US. Basketball fans have created brackets as a way to predict tournament results. The bracket is typically played with friends, family and coworkers. Each participant tries to predict who will be the two final competing teams.
What does March Madness have to do with a book bracket? School librarians and educators have taken the idea of a bracket and translated it to books. They take a list of books and have students vote for the best book from each category. Eventually, there are two remaining titles that win it all! It’s quite a fun way to build a culture of reading.

Our staff has created 3 fun bracket activities that give you choice and voice in how you participate in the March Magic #bookbracket with your Novel Effect App. They all add an extra fun layer to your magical read-alouds.
Our staff librarian has curated some of the most requested and read soundscapes. The completed bracket for in-app voting is on page 1 of our #bookbracket PDF.
Each week, from March 3-30, a new round of books will be put forward in our Community Picks. Read-aloud the books in the bracket, then vote on your favorite soundscape.
WEEK 1, MARCH 3-9: Women’s History Bracket
WEEK 2, MARCH 10-16: Spring Bracket
WEEK 3, MARCH 17-23: Guaranteed Giggles Bracket
WEEK 4, MARCH 24-30: Award Winners Bracket
We’ll announce the winner of each bracket in your Novel Effect app. We cannot wait to see which soundscape you vote as a slam dunk!
